Know God – The Need For Reality

Andreas has a chapter in his book that deals with prayer. Prayer is how we get to know God, because it allows us the time and space to be in conversation with God, and further, in relationship with Him.
There are many forms of prayer – participating in the liturgy, saying a rosary while we’re stuck in traffic, interrupting our busy work day to pray the Angelus at noon, morning prayer with devotional aids, etc. One things is for certain, though. Some time does need to be set aside for God, without the usual distractions.
Pope Benedict warns of the threat that is posed by our society’s growing need to be “plugged in” all the time. He recommends times of “silence and solitude.” I think we all need to listen to the Holy Father’s call and set a few minutes aside each day where it’s just us and God – no iPhone, Blackberry, iPad, laptop, TV, or anything else.
